New Play AreaAn innovative new play area will be coming to West Bay in March 2010. Bridport Town Council has been working with young people who have been involved in the Summentor Mentoring Programme and with the support of Bridport Young Persons’ Action Trust (BYPAT) to finalise the design for an exciting new play area in West Bay. Film and website project puts West Bay in the spotlight - A melodrama shot in West Bay in the 1930s will be the centrepiece of an exciting new website project linking archive film directly to the place it was made, in the case of West Bay, the film selected is Dope Under Thorncombe, which was made by a small group of people including the father of Bridport’s Mr Music, the late Rex Trevett.

25/6/09 A small pod of bottlenose dolphins have been seen swimming in the waters off West Bay heading down towards Portland Bill. It’s a little early in the season, but there have been many sightings across Dorset of pods of Dolphins, so we expect to see them again. Other sightings have been in Poole, off the pier in Bournemouth and many around Durlaston Head and the Purbecks.
